Haunted Theater
Welcome to the haunted theater. Here you will find a growing collection of my favorite movies and TV shows to watch during the spooky season. I wanted to include TV shows because sometimes you just need a good show to put on in the background. There's a couple of kid friendly ones to watch but most are not recommended for kids.
Feel free to suggest any spooky season movies or TV shows down below! I am always looking for new stuff to watch!
I am currently watching: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Over The Garden Wall (2014)
Dark Fantasy, Mystery, Comedy
Over The Garden wall follows the story of two brothers who get lost in a strange forest known as the Unknown. This show is one of my favorite animated TV shows of all time. The show sets the mood for fall. Besides great animation, the voice acting is incredible! It has the voice talents of Elijah Wood and John Cleese. The storytelling is amazing, the characters are amazing, and you just need to watch it! The only downside is that there is only 1 season. :(

The Owl House (2020)
Fantasy, Comedy, Adventure
The Owl House is an animated fantasy TV show that is about a girl called Luz who dreams of becoming a witch even though humans can not do magic. This animation is a charming watch with many wholesome moments and great lessons even for adults. It's definitely ahead of it's time and got cancelled way before they could finish the show. I still recommend giving it a watch because there's something there for everyone and it deserves recognition.

Supernatural (2005)
Horror, thriller, supernatural fantasy, drama
If you are looking for a long TV series to watch then I recommend Supernatural. This show follows two brothers who hunt monsters. I really like this show because it's got an interesting take on different supernatural monsters. The actors also give amazing performances with great chemistry. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the writing declines after many seasons.

Pretty Little Liars (2010)
Mystery, thriller, drama
Pretty Little Liars is another favorite of mine to put on in the background while I work on stuff. It is also a perfect series to binge watch for a long time since there are 7 seasons. If you love drama, mystery, suspense and a bit of romance then this is the show to watch! There is a spin off of this show but I did not like it as much and it also got cancelled.

The Twilight Zone (1959)
Thriller, Sci-Fi, Mystery, Psychological horror
If you can't tell I love TV shows with many seasons. The Twilight Zone is and oldie but it is a classic. A lot of the humor hasn't aged that well but I am in it for the mystery and weirdness. On top of that add sci-fi to the mix. I remember when they would show episodes of this on TV as a kid. To this day some of the episodes still freak me out! I am still in the process of watching this but I am loving it so far!
Can kids watch it? Depends on the episode? I would only recommend for older kids

✮⋆˙Movies˙⋆✮
Poltergeist (1982)
Horror, Thriller
This is the movie that started it all! I watched this movie for the first time when I was 13. At the time it terrified me and I remember having nightmares for a while after. I didn't watch horror movies for a long time after that. I have actually only recently started getting into horror movies but I like the ones that mess with your mind over jump-scares and gore. Now that I am older this movie is not as scary anymore. While this movie does have jumpscares and a little gore (from what I can remember) I like to include it since it was one of the first horror movies I watched.
Can kids watch it? Older kids only

The Shining (1980)
Psychological, Horror, Drama, Supernatural
My favorite horror movie of all time! I love this movie because of many things but mainly the suspense and psychological factors. The way they filmed this movie is also amazing. It is based of the book of the same name written by Stephen King. I say based loosely because it deviates from the original source content greatly but I still enjoyed it. I do plan on reading the book at some point so I can have a better view on which version I like.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Horror, Dark Comedy, Musical, Raunchy Comedy
As a theater kid I gotta put The Rocky Horror Picture Show on here which may be a cliche answer but I do genuinely love this musical. I love the songs, characters, and the whole vibe. The watch parties are fun to go to as well. My community college theater department had a tradition of showing this movie at the yearly Halloween party. Also Tim Curry is amazing.
RIP Tim Curry you were an amazing actor who showed us that we can be weird and be ourselves AND still be successful.

The Addams Family (1991)
Dark comedy, fantasy, supernatural, satire
This is my favorite version of the Addams family! Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia have amazing chemistry as Morticia and Gomez. And Christina Ricci is my favorite as Wednesday. I grew up watching this version of the Addams family so it holds a special place in my heart.

Monster House (2006)
Animation, Family, Mystery, Comedy
Another childhood movie! This one also holds a place in my heart. This was one of my favorite Halloween season movies to watch as a kid. It definitely one of the movies that is a part of my childhood nostalgia. I love the animation!
